Holiday in Huatulco: Slow down, enjoy the moment

Sparkling water, hot and humid temperatures, jungles, rivers and friendly locals. Our week in Huatulco was a holiday in heaven.

Located on the Mexico’s most southern Pacific coast in the Oaxaca state, the area was built up in the 1970s as tourist region by the federal and state governments.

Notable for its more than 30 bays, along with snorkelling and other water activities, it has largely been a destination for Mexican holidayers, but is starting to gain attention from Canadian tourists. WestJet and Sunwing both fly into the region’s airport.

Having done many vacations to the lovely Marival Residences in Riveria Nayarit (near Puerto Vallarta), we were looking for something new when we opted for a Huatulco vacation in December 2016, staying at the tiny, peaceful Camino Real Zaashila resort on Tangolunda Bay.

Here is a selection of photos from our trip in December 2016. Click on the photo to bring the gallery up in a full-screen view.
